Two Ways

Two Ways lives up to its name, offering a versatile double-sided wave that can serve up both left and right rides. This tucked-away spot sits in a protected pocket, making it a bit particular about conditions—it really needs a solid push from the Southeast or Southwest to fire. When the swell rolls in around the 3-foot mark, the reef comes alive. The right is often the pick, but the left can dish out some stellar lines when everything lines up. The wave peels over a dead coral bottom, creating long, rippable walls that are both fun and slightly challenging. It’s a playground for intermediate surfers, though beginners can snag some forgiving walls on the right days. Tide matters less here—low, mid, or high all work—but a clean north wind is your best ally. Two Ways isn’t an everyday spot; it demands a decent swell to show its true potential. That pickiness tends to favor the experienced, but when the stars align, it rewards with a session that’s well worth the wait.

Best Surf Season (December - March)

The northeast monsoon is in full swing during these months, setting up the most consistent stretch of clean, rideable surf at Two Ways. High pressure building over the Asian continent pushes dry, offshore flow across the Maldives, and at this south-southeast facing reef the north-northwest through north-northeast wind corridor keeps the surface glassy. Ideal wind percentages peak at 56-63%, while the swell window remains dominated by ESE through SSE energy in the fun-sized 1-1.5m (3-5ft) range with a punchy 9.4-10.6s period. This is the time to score long, rippable walls with tropical water temperatures and the least rainfall of the year.
