Best Surf Season (December - March)

Acapulco's south-facing bay lights up during the Northern Hemisphere winter, when Southern Hemisphere storm tracks and the equatorial Pacific send consistent, long-period SSW and SW swell toward the Mexican coastline. Average wave heights sit in the fun-sized 3ft (0.9m) to 3-4ft (1.1m) range, but periods hover around 13-14 seconds, giving the waves real push and shape. Even better, the low sun angle and strong continental high pressure favor offshore N/NNE/NE/NNW winds, and the dry season keeps precipitation to a minimum. This is the most reliable window for clean, glassy surf at Acapulco.
