Best Surf Season (May - August)

For Playa Serena, the surf year is not governed by huge winter groundswells but by the dependable arrival of SSW and SW swell. From May through August, SSW-origin waves make up 80-96% of the swell spectrum, average wave periods sit in the 11-12.6s range, and ideal offshore wind windows occur 63-80% of the time. Heights are small, with most days in the 2-3ft (0.5-1m) range, but the consistency is excellent and the north-northwest flow keeps the beach clean. This is the most reliable window for finding a fun, rippable wave at this particular stretch of the Panamanian coast.
