Best Surf Season (October - March)

Lanuza is a classic Pacific-backed, north-northeast-facing beach that comes alive when the northeast monsoon and cold-front-driven swell push out of the Philippine Sea. The strongest months for size are December through February, when average swell heights hover around 1.2 to 1.3m (3.9 to 4.3ft) and periods sit in the 9 to 10 second range. The catch: the very same NE monsoon that delivers the swell also pours in onshore N, NNE and NE winds, keeping the ideal wind window to just 17 to 26 percent of the time. Still, with the most consistent NNE and NE swell energy of the year, plus occasional NNW pulses, this is when Lanuza produces its most solid and rippable waves. October is the standout month in this block - periods jump to 10.2s and a bigger share of swell arrives from NE, NNE and NNW with a much higher 43 percent ideal wind frequency, making for the cleanest combination of late-season energy and glassy surface.
