Best Surf Season (October - March)

As the North Atlantic storm track shifts southward, Sao Pedro de Moel comes alive. The beach's west-northwest exposure puts it right in the firing line for long-period W, WNW and NW swells that roll in from the deep ocean. During these months, the average swell height holds between 6 and 8ft (1.8-2.4m) with periods of 12-13 seconds, generating powerful, rippable surf. Critically, the wind patterns line up over the Iberian Peninsula: when high pressure builds over Europe, easterly and southeasterly winds blow offshore, grooming the waves into clean, hollow lines. With water temps around 14-15°C (57-59°F) and occasional rain, it's not tropical, but the quality is unmatched.
