The dominant swell comes from the SSE to S, which unfortunately aligns with onshore winds - southerly breezes that put a chop on the surface and close out waves. While the occasional south swell wrapping in can offer fun-sized waves, the overall consistency is poor. It's a great time for beginners to practice on smaller days, but for experienced surfers looking for punch, patience is key. The best chance for a good wave comes when a passing cold front or afternoon sea breeze from the northwest briefly cleans things up.
