Average swell heights drop to between 1.1-1.3m, with periods around 8.7-9.5s, providing plenty of fun, rippable waves. The wind patterns become more variable, and although the ideal wind percentage hovers around 25-29%, the frequency of strong westerly winds decreases compared to winter. April and May see more light wind days and the first hints of summer high pressure slides, delivering clean glassy mornings. September is a wildcard as the Atlantic begins to wake up again; early autumn lows can send renewed swell while the wind still holds in a more favourable quadrant.

Low Surf Season (June - August)

The summer doldrums settle in hard across Bude. Average wave heights sit around the 1.0-1.1m mark and periods drop below 8 seconds, meaning most of the energy is short-period, windswell driven by local sea breezes and the dominant westerly airflow. The ideal wind percentage plummets to 15-19%, as onshore SW-W winds blow relentlessly.
