When a tropical wave or a rare cold front shifts the wind north, the payoff can be epic, as those long-period SSW and SW swells become glassy and powerful. But you need to be ready to drop everything and go. September and October are strictly for the die-hards who love a challenge and are willing to hunt for the fleeting clean moments.

July: Slightly Better Odds

July offers a modest improvement in wind quality to 46% ideal, though the onshore W and WSW winds still dominate (combined 35%).
