Today's Surf Conditions at The Radisson
Spot Overview & Description
The Radisson is a classic beach break located directly in front of the Radisson Hotel, just south of Eau Gallie Boulevard along A1A. It peels both left and right over a mixed bottom of sand, coquina, and worm rock, offering a versatile but challenging ride. The coquina shelves act as natural sand traps, helping to hold the beach in place, but they also introduce an extra layer of difficulty that sets this spot apart from its neighboring breaks. Rocky outcroppings extend farther offshore here, which can be a blessing when a solid north swell rolls in—focusing energy and shaping up cleaner lines. However, that same rocky structure makes entry and exit more demanding, so keep your wits about you. Best suited for intermediate to advanced surfers who can read shifting terrain and negotiate the obstacles.
Best Surf Season & Climatology
Best Surf Season (December - February)
The winter months are when The Radisson truly hits its stride. As the North Atlantic storm track dips south and the NAO often shifts into a more negative phase, passing cold fronts and coastal low-pressure systems sharpen the pressure gradient along this ENE-facing stretch of shoreline. The result is a much healthier mix of NE, ENE and E groundswell arriving with average wave heights around 0.8-0.9m (2.5-3ft) and periods pushing 8.4-8.6s. Just as importantly, post-frontal high pressure often installs light to moderate SW, WSW and W winds - the offshore airflow this beach needs to clean up the lines.
