Best Surf Season (October - March)

Satellite Beach wears its best winter coat from October through March. As the western North Atlantic storm track ramps up, the east-northeast-facing Space Coast starts picking up a steady diet of NE, ENE and E swell. November leads the charge with an average 3ft (0.9m) of surf and the most frequent pulses in the 3-5ft (0.9-1.5m) range. December, January and February are not far behind, and the ideal-wind statistic peaks during this stretch at 14-16% as cold fronts slide through and swing winds offshore from the SW/W/WNW quadrant. Although ENE/E/ESE onshore winds can blow for many days, the cleanest windows usually show up in the wake of fronts, especially during negative NAO episodes when the storm track slips farther south. Water temperatures hold at a manageable 69-74F (20.6-23.3C), and the Atlantic stays full of low-pressure energy.
