Best Surf Season (November - March)

The best surf of the year at Topanga unfolds from November through March, when the North Pacific storm track is most active and the average surf height hovers between 0.8-0.9m (2.6-3ft) with periods in the powerful 12-13s band. What sets this window apart is wind: ideal offshore conditions from the north through northwest are present 50-60% of the time, grooming the long-period WSW/SW swell into clean, rippable waves. December and January offer the highest consistency of offshore winds, while February and March bring some of the largest west and southwest swells of the year. With water temperatures around 14°C and air temps in the low teens, a hood and booties are the price of admission for the best waves of the season.
