Best Surf Season (October - March)

Andran is a deep-water, exposed Atlantic beach on the Spanish Cantabrian coast, which means it lives and dies by the strength of the North Atlantic storm track. From October through March the average wave height steadily holds in the 1.5-1.9m (5-6ft) range, while average swell periods stretch from 11.2s up to 12.7s. These are powerful, long-period groundswells, and the dominant NW-NNW-WNW direction is exactly the swell window Andran needs. The wind patterns also align better in winter: S, SSW, SW and WSW offshore flow is much more common, especially in December and January when the wind is ideal for surfing around 45-46% of the time. Expect consistent, sometimes heavy surf, cooler water (12.9-14.2°C) and the need for a full winter wetsuit.
