February: Mid-Winter Consistency

The swell distribution is similar to January: WNW (32.3%) and NW (25.2%) dominate, with useful contributions from the favored SSW-WSW directions (9.9% total). Wind patterns shift a bit: N (11.6%) and NNW (14.3%) combined with NNE (6.0%) make up the bulk of offshore flow, but there is an uptick in E and ESE winds that are still offshore here – ENE and E winds blow from the east-northeast, which also work well across the beach. The average period remains in the powerful long-period range, meaning solid, rippable waves when the swell arrives. Head-high to overhead sets are common, with 37% of swell in the 1.5-2.5m+ range.
