July remains at the heart of winter, delivering powerful surf. Average swell height holds steady at 1.9m with the period peaking at 12.1s. SW swell dominates at 42.8%, and WSW adds 13.5%, meaning the beach sees a high proportion of direct, long-period groundswell. Ideal wind is still high at 47%, though the direction shifts slightly east-southeast as the storm track strengthens. Southerly winds are at their lowest of the year. The extra swell height and period translate to bigger, more powerful waves—often in the pumping to heavy range. Onshore events are rare, and when the wind goes offshore, the waves groom into clean, hollow lines.
